The Friends donate to the Maternity Unit. The Friends of the Portlaoise Hospital, a voluntary committee recently donated 4 Doppler Fetal Monitors to the Maternity Unity of The Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise.
Doppler Fetal Monitors are handheld ultrasound devices used to detect the baby’s heartbeat during pregnancy.
The Friends of the Portlaoise Hospital was established in April 1991 with the main objective being to raise funds to enhance patient comfort and care and to purchase medical equipment when requested by staff for The Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise.
CMM III Ita Kinsella said: “The Maternity Services at the Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise would sincerely like to acknowledge the generosity and on-going support of the Friends of Portlaoise Hospital in facilitating the purchase of four Fetal Doppler Devices. These devices are used to listen to the baby’s heart beat in the womb.”
Chairman of the Friends of Portlaoise Hospital said: “We are delighted as a committee to be able to donate equipment to our hospital. These donations are solely down to the generosity of our community who donate to us and help us with fundraising.
